All Singapore Citizens are welcome to apply for the scholarship. Applicants awaiting admission to their proposed institutions may also apply. However, proof of admission into the institution must be produced at the time of scheduled interview.

Applicants who are already in receipt of financial assistance from another institution or organisation or have commenced their course of studies may not apply.

All employees of the National Heritage Board are not allowed to apply.

Eligible applicants will be assessed on the following (not in order of importance):

  • Applicant’s academic records and participation in extra-curricular activities
  • Benefits and value of the studies to the applicant and to the development of the heritage and visual arts sector in Singapore
  • Applicant’s passion for the heritage and visual arts
  • Applicant’s achievements, track records and relevant experience (if any)

The NHB scholarship scheme supports promising talents in Singapore to pursue full-time undergraduate or postgraduates studies in the fields of heritage and/or museum management or administration.

The full scholarship is awarded only once for the duration of the study and is non-renewable. Some of the areas of study allowed under the Scheme are:

  • Conservation
  • Museum Education
  • Curatorial Studies
  • History (Singapore and Southeast Asia)
  • Cultural and Heritage Management

Upon successful completion of studies, the NHB scholar will be in the employment of NHB serving a 3-year (for overseas partial scholarship or local scholarship) or 6-year (for overseas full scholarship) bond on a full-time basis.


Full scholarship - up to $250,000
Partial scholarship - up to $120,000
