Applicants must:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  • Must possess GCE “A” level, Diploma, International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification

Applicants who have started their studies may apply. However, there must be minimally one academic year left to the completion of study from the point of Scholarship award in July 2018.

Note: Applications without complete supporting documents will not be considered for the NAC Arts Scholarship. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all components of the Scholarship application are received by the NAC before the application deadline.

The NAC Arts Scholarship (Undergraduate) aims to nurture outstanding individuals who wish to pursue a career as an arts practitioner or professional, and have the potential to lead in the fields of performing arts, visual arts*, literary arts, community arts, arts education, technical design and production management, or arts management in Singapore.

In view of the needs and opportunities in the arts and cultural sector, fields of study have been identified as a priority, which are available under the section “NAC Arts Scholarship (Undergraduate)” here.


Local Study (up to 90% of total costs subject to a maximum of $110,000):

  • Tuition and compulsory fees

Overseas Study (up to 90% of total costs subject to a maximum of $110,000):

  • Tuition and compulsory fees
  • Monthly maintenance allowance
  • Onetime return airfare


Bachelor's Degree


Recipients of an NAC Arts Scholarship must fulfil a service commitment of a specific duration in the arts sector upon graduation. The service commitment duration depends on the Scholarship quantum as follows:

  • Scholarship quantum up to $50,000: 1-year service commitment, to be completed within 2 years 
  • Scholarship quantum more than $50,000: 2-year service commitment, to be completed within 3 years
Recipients can fulfil their service commitment by being engaged on a full time basis to create art and/or work in Singapore in the arts scene in a role relevant to their course of study.

Recipients will need to confirm their service commitment plans with the NAC six months before graduation. The NAC takes a serious view of Scholarship recipients who do not fulfil their service commitment and reserves the right to recover funds where necessary.
