The MOE-Autonomous University (MOE-AU) Scholarship is part of the Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent scheme (START) that was established in 2015. The Scholarship supports young Singaporeans who demonstrate the interest and ability to pursue a career in academia in our participating AUs (NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD), and a high degree of proficiency, motivation, and interest in a particular subject field.

The mid-term scholarship is fully sponsored by MOE (for selected items).

Career Progression:

Upon graduation from undergraduate studies as an MOE-AU Scholar, the MOE-AU Scholar would be expected to apply for, obtain and accept the postgraduate scholarship (under START) from the AU which the scholar is paired with. MOE co-funds 50% of the selected postgraduate talent programmes offered by the AUs. Upon graduation from postgraduate studies under START, the scholar would serve in the paired AU as an academic staff.

MOE will fund the following items under the MOE-AU Scholarship (Mid-term):

  • All tuition and compulsory fees
  • A monthly allowance to cover accommodation and sustenance costs
  • A one-way economy airfare ticket after graduation from undergraduate studies (for scholars pursuing studies overseas), based on the paired AU’s travel guidelines
  • Sponsorship for overseas field trips, immersion programmes, or summer school courses approved by MOE and the paired AU
  • Sponsorship for one overseas exchange programme (for local scholars)
