The ES scholarship was launched in 2011 to attract talented students to become public sector economists. It is tenable for local and overseas undergraduate studies in Economics, and follows the terms and conditions of the Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholarships.

As an ES scholar, you will be plugged into the community of ES officers throughout your studies and the opportunity to undergo internships in MTI and relevant ministries. You may also be sponsored for a Master's degree immediately upon graduation.

The Economist Service provides a well-defined career path with opportunities for rotation across the Public Sector. The ES scholars typically begin their career in MTI’s Economics Division. They conduct economic surveillance and gain mastery over their portfolios in their teams. Once they become more established in their respective portfolios, they will be posted to the different agencies across the Public Service. Such external postings provide ES officers with the exposure to different issues and WOG perspective as they move across the different agencies. Midway in their career, they may be further sponsored for a PhD scholarship, subject to good performance.
