A career in the Foreign Service alternates between Singapore and overseas postings in one of our 50 missions around the world. With the ever-changing global political landscape, no two days are the same.

As a Foreign Service Officer, you represent Singapore on the international stage, safeguarding and advancing our nation’s interests. This includes analysing global developments, giving policy advice, negotiating international agreements, organising high-level visits and meetings, as well as assisting distressed Singaporeans overseas.

Our operations span across 50 Overseas Missions worldwide and postings abroad are integral to the job. Throughout your career as an FSO, you will alternate stations between Singapore (HQ) and our Overseas Missions. You will be expected to pick up new knowledge with every rotation and will have the opportunity to work and live in diverse social and cultural environments.

Upcoming event

                 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be organising the Foreign Service Scholarship Tea Session on 9 March 2019.  The event is organised for current and graduated JC2 or equivalent students to gain an insight on the highlights and challenges of being a Foreign Service Officer (FSO). This will be an opportunity for you to meet our management, FSOs and scholars up close to learn more about what MFA has to offer.
