A variety of career development opportunities are provided to employees in MPA. These development opportunities can extend beyond MPA to provide greater exposure to the industry.

A) Within MPA:
  • We have a rotation policy in place to allow for lateral movement where our people are exposed to various MPA functions. To facilitate career growth, the Career@MPA portal provides timely information on the different career opportunities available within MPA. The portal also serves as a platform to facilitate career growth, by enabling employees to take on a more pro-active role in planning for their own career.
  • MPA also recognise promising employees with proven capability, by providing vertical movements through promotions, where they are challenged with larger portfolios and greater responsibilities to contribute in a larger capacity to MPA.
B) Outside MPA:
  • MPA also works closely with industry partners and ministries, sending our people on attachments and postings to the industry and MOT, both locally and overseas. MPA also sends our people on mission trips and conferences led by Minister/Chairman/top management, exposing employees to the workings of the maritime business, and enabling them to cultivate relationships, grow networks, and even represent MPA/Singapore in the international fora.

Structured development programme which aims to develop our high potential officers to realise their full potential:
Under the Programme, officers would be scheduled to attend developmental programmes such as executive development courses and post-graduate programmes. They would undertake projects and participate in developmental activities such as minute taker for senior management meeting, co-ordinator for strategic forum to give them exposure to strategic issues. Younger participants would also be provided with mentorship by senior management team members.
